The Korkow Schwedhelm Memorial Top Hand Scholarship is a collaborative effort between the Korkow and Schwedhelm Families to reward exceptional SDSU Rodeo Team athletes who dominate in the rodeo arena and in the classroom.

Every year the Schwedhelm Ranch donates at $1250 to the champion bareback rider of the Champions Challenge Rodeo. The Champions Challenge is held in Omaha, NE during the River City Rodeo at the CHI Health Center. High School State Champions from a dozen states are invited to Omaha to compete for the Scholarships.

Korkow Schwedhelm Memorial Top Hand Scholarship 2019-2020 Reed Arneson

Reed truly embodies what a Top Hand Cowboy is. In high school Reed was Valedictorian, and made several qualifications to the National High School Finals Rodeo. At South Dakota State University Reed is majoring in Animal Science with minors in range management and Ag Business. So far Reed has qualified for the College National Finals Rodeo twice in the Saddle Bronc Riding and maintained a GPA >3.0. Without a doubt Reed is going to be a ranching industry leader after is time at SDSU. The Schwedhelm and Korkow families are honored to aid Reed in his quest to become a College Rodeo Champion and Scholar.

Korkow Schwedhelm Memorial Top Hand Scholarship 2018-2019 Jacey Hupp

Craig Korkow and Nick Schwedhelm had the amazing opportunity to present the first annual Top Hand Scholarship to Jacey Hupp. Jacey is a true Champion in and out of the arena. The Huron, SD native has made three trips to the big show in Casper, WY. At the College National Finals Rodeo Jacey has been a constant goat tying threat. She has finished 3rd, and 5th in the Nation. As well as being a Reserve All-around Champion in the Great Plains Region. Jacey has overcome adversity this past year after a rodeo accident left her eye damaged requiring multiple surgeries. However Jacey is back in 2019 ready to bring the goat tying championship home to SDSU!
